THE SUB-MISSION Selection Committee Announced

CHICAGO, Illinois – THE MISSION is pleased to announce the committee members invited to review and select proposed for the 2013 exhibition year of THE SUB-MISSION; an alternative installation project space, created to encourage and promote artists living and working in Chicago. THE SUB-MISSION strives to foster a dialog among local, national, and international artistic practices.

THE MISSION has assembled a review committee of Chicago artists, writers, curators and critics, seeking out those who are engaged in and excited about the local arts scene:

-Lisa B. Dorin, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago

-Michelle Grabner, Professor and Chair, Department of Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; Co-director of The Suburban; Chicago-based artist

-Tempestt Hazel, Independent curator, writer, arts advocate and co-founder of Sixty Inches from Center

-Megha Ralapati, Artist Residency Coordinator at Hyde Park Art Center

-John Sparagana, Professor and Chair, Department of Painting and Drawing, Rice University; Chicago-based artist

-Lauren Weinberg, Art and Design Editor at Time Out Chicago

THE MISSION promotes art of the Americas by organizing exhibitions of contemporary and historically significant artworks. THE MISSION initiates dialogue among local, national, and international contemporary artists. We are dedicated to supporting artistic innovation and experimentation in light of art historical contexts.
