THE SUB-MISSION 2014 Selection Committee Announced

CHICAGO, Illinois - THE MISSION is pleased to announce the committee members invited to review and select proposals for the 2014 exhibition year of THE SUB-MISSION, an alternative installation project space dedicated to the development of artists living and working in Chicago. THE SUB-MISSION was created to showcase local artists, foster the investigation of new ideas and artistic processes, and facilitate an exchange between artists and the artistic community.

THE MISSION has assembled a review committee of Chicago-based artists, writers, curators and critics:


- Robin Dluzen, Chicago-based artist and art critic

- Allison Grant, Chicago-based artist; Assistant Curator, Museum of Contemporary Photography; Adjunct Faculty member at Columbia College Chicago

- Jason Lazarus, Chicago-based artist, curator and writer; Assistant Adjunct Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago

- Duncan MacKenzie, Chicago-based artist; Founding Member/Producer at Bad at Sports; Assistant Professor in Art + Design at Columbia College Chicago.




THE SUB-MISSION is accepting proposals until August 19, 2013.

THE MISSION promotes art of the Americas by organizing a diverse program of provocative exhibitions by emerging, mid-career, and established contemporary artists. THE MISSION takes a multidisciplinary approach to exploring cultural, social, geographical, and historical contexts through presenting artists that shape, inform, and challenge ideas and perception of contemporary art. THE MISSION is dedicated to supporting artistic innovation and experimentation and strives to initiate dialogue among local, national, and international art communities.
