Gilded Records Presents Zinc
May 20, 2017
Please join us at THE MISSION on Saturday, May 20 at 8:30pm for a musical performance by Zinc organized by Eli Namay and Browne Goodwin. Zinc’s musical performance complements Jean Alexander Frater’s concurrent exhibition, Softer, on view in the gallery.
Zinc is an improvising group that draws its sound from a multiplicity of backgrounds and aesthetic perspectives. In this group timbre and grandniece are areas of instrumental focus. The smaller, less explored nooks and crannies of their instruments become frameworks for large compound sounds and sprawling soundscapes. Why this and not that? Zinc’s players are active members of Chicago’s new music and improvised music communities: Carol Genetti (voice/electronics), Zach Good (clarinet), Nick Meryhew (trombone/electronics), Eli Namay (double bass).
