EXPO CHICAGO is proud to present The Mission as a participating gallery in our EXPOSURE program this September. The Mission is a Chicago gallery that has opened its second annual preview exhibition, SUMMER 2012: Vantage Point, on view through August 18, 2012.

SUMMER 2012: Vantage Point assembles works from six national and international artists, stimulating discourse and recognizing reoccurring global themes addressed by artists across the continent.

The exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists from the Americas, including Philippe Bemberg (Argentina), Adam Gondek (United States), Clarissa Tossin (Brazil), Mariano del Verme (Argentina), William Villalongo (United States) and Rodrigo Zamora (Chile).

Although the artists use different mediums and aesthetics, each one explores the subliminal: what is concealed and perceptually blocked.

Philippe Bemberg, Adam Gondek and William Villalongo confront this theme with a playful attitude, while underlining the absurdity and futility of mass cultural imagery and design. Clarissa Tossin and Rodrigo Zamora access this terrain subtly, using repetition as exercise of revelation, whether it is in the tracing of past events, the reconstruction of urban landscapes, or as a reflection of the process of art-making.

Located below the main gallery, The Sub-Mission is an alternative installation project space created to encourage and promote artists living and working in Chicago. The Sub-Mission presents Corinne Halbert, Foxx Luv, on view through August 18, 2012.

The Mission promotes art of the Americas by organizing exhibitions of contemporary historically significant artworks. The Mission initiates dialogue among local, national and international contemporary artists.

EXPOSURE is a section of EXPO CHICAGO devoted to younger galleries. Designed to bring a vital energy to the inaugural exposition, the galleries in EXPOSURE will exhibit a special presentation of one or two artists from their programs ensuring the opportunity for curators, collectors and art enthusiasts to survey the best in emerging work. EXPOSURE will collectively contribute to the high caliber of artwork on view at EXPO CHICAGO.
